Surviving Winter continued…
Firstly, thank you for rejoining me, I hope you found the start of my January survival guide somewhat helpful.
So by now, hopefully you are hydrated, refreshed from all of that fresh air and possibly even slightly exhausted from all that walking…. I promise, you’ll thank me for it later. So continuing on here are some further suggestions that you might find useful.
Make an effort to stay in touch with friends – This is one thing that is so important. When I say friends, I mean the genuine friends you have that lift you up and don’t bring you down. Make an effort to send even a text once each week to check in with them; relationships are always a two-way street and remembering the law of attraction – give out what you want to attract.
Buy a new book – We could all spend a little more time reading and the benefits sometimes go unnoticed. Reading is proven to unwind the mind and induce good quality sleep, it also adds a positive distraction for those of us suffering with bereavement who find ourselves feeling very lost and alone on those dark evenings. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve sat aimlessly scrolling through social media when I could have got stuck into a good book.
Build a memory book – Once you’ve got your steps in, January is the ideal month to get cosy and creative. Let’s be honest, with the spring months further away than most of us would like, there isn’t a lot to miss out on at this time of year. If you’ve suffered the loss of a loved one and find yourself looking through old cards and photos then why not build your own memory or memorial book. It’s a great idea to combine this with a declutter too, and finally let go of those things we don’t need. If Heaven Had a Postcode is a memorial book with a difference. It allows you to store photos and memories of a loved one and add to it year after year. You could even consider getting a copy for a friend or loved one also in need of a little support right now. Described by many customers as an Album, this ‘more than a memorial book’ contains 16 hand illustrated surprises, as you journey through the seasons. Be uplifted by beautiful poetry and timeless illustrations, and even involve children. It has something for everyone.
Now that you’re cosy – Why not snuggle up with some healthy snacks and get stuck into a few films that you always meant to watch? I’m talking the films that always seem to pop up in conversation with friends that you just haven’t had a chance to see. While away some of the cold nights and relax in front of a film.
Before I share my January bucket list with you here is one more January suggestion – Why not create some New Year moodboards? Pinterest is a great application that can offer inspiration on all subjects, be it home DIY, home decor, Healthy eating, exercise or even scrapbooking. I suggest starting a few boards of anything you fancy – even maybe spring gardening ideas? It will give you some lovely bits to look forward to as the spring months approach and will inspire you to fill some of those wet and miserable days with productivity! - You may find some inspiration from my boards at: Sabrina Honors or If Heaven Had a Postcode.
Check back in to see my January bucket list,
