As January draws to a close…

So as my January blogs draw to a close, it seems fitting to focus on a new month ahead for all.

For those of us who recognise that January can be a challenge, it’s easy to think that once it’s over we are ‘in the clear’.

Whilst for some of us that might be true, for a lot of us dealing with ‘Seasonal Affective Disorder’ or overcoming a first or subsequent Christmas without that special someone, February can also be a struggle.

Long cold nights, lack of sunshine, and reduced hours of daylight can still hugely impact on our mood and mental health, so it’s important to keep yourself in check.

February is a lovely month to focus on self care, whether that be working on a new skin care routine, mini ‘glow up’ or simply being kind to yourself.

Make a list of things that bring you comfort and remember they don’t have to make sense to anyone else.

If you are struggling, be reminded that spring is nearing and longer days with fairer weather are growing ever closer. If you need support, remember there are a list of contacts in the back of ‘If Heaven had a Postcode’ too, never be too embarrassed or worried to ask for professional support.

For some, even asking for help can be a huge achievement, so I ask you to recognise those achievements big or small, but equally make a note of things that you personally might find triggering, so that you can make a sustained effort moving forward to deal with those things. Whether that means simply moving away from negative influences or restricting time around those things that are not helpful to you.

Treat yourself to some flowers on Valentine’s Day and remember that you are loved.

I’ll be back at the beginning of the week sharing some more ideas with you.

You can find more of my blogs at www.ifheavenhadapostcode.com where I’ll be sharing some exciting news with you in the months ahead.

Take care and thank you again for being here,
