How to make a memorial book
Welcome back to the blog, and today I’ll be helping you with something I struggled with after the loss of my mother.
So, if you want to learn how to make your own memorial book in order to remember that someone special, then keep reading.
Before you start, here is what you’ll need to build your own:
A photo album with self-adhesive pages
A collection of special photos
A collection of special keepsakes, such as birthday cards, letters and memorabilia from your time together
A little bit of inspiration
Some nice stickers
Pens
A box of tissues (this will be emotional)
& finally . . . Plenty of time
After losing my mum, I spent hours looking for the perfect memorial book online. But everything I came across just didn’t contain exactly what I wanted, so I decided to make my own. I ordered a photo album from Amazon and spent around £17.00 (It was the Vienrose Large Photo Album Self Adhesive for 4x6 8x10 Pictures Scrapbook Album DIY 60 Blank Pages with A Metallic Pen https://amzn.eu/d/brlHQqO). The album itself was a photo album with peel-back adhesive sheets, and I had the idea that I could add my own bits to each page to build the perfect memory book.
In addition to the book, I also invested in some lovely scrapbook stickers that I intended to add to each page as I went through. I found some beautiful stickers, some with birds and butterflies and others with stamps and flowers, all of which reminded me of my mum. I also bought some lovely pens.
In the weeks leading up to ordering the book, I had began to put aside some special keepsakes and birthday card inserts along with some special photos to put inside the book. I also spent some time looking for some fitting poems that I could write inside the book or print and add too. When I began to assemble my book, I started by making a page at a time, I started with the oldest photos and drafted a timeline of my Mum’s life and added them to each page. It was lovely to be able to add my own touches by adding precious letters and card inserts next to some special photos.
One tip I would add is to leave plenty of room on each page so that you add to your memorial book as time goes by, I promise you’ll always find more lovely photos and special memories to add here and there.
Building your own memorial book is a lovely way you can build memories that you can reflect on and treasure.
