Spring Memorial ideas
Welcome back to another blog, and this week I’ll be sharing some of my Spring memorial ideas with you, With Spring in the air (in amongst the rain and wind) I hope that for many of my lovely readers, it is a reminder to you that blue skies are ahead. So if you’d like to discover some of my Spring memorial ideas then keep reading.
Spring - Bereavement & Mental health
For many of us that have been weathering our own storm, Spring can bring an air of relief. With the ending of winter, dark cold days begin to fall behind us and new life appears all around. Though it is a promise of brighter days ahead, for many of us it can also be a poignant reminder that with new life, other memories of loved ones no longer with us are left behind.
Whilst it is often expected that Spring brings brightness and positivity, it is important to be kind to yourself at this time. Whilst it often feels like the rest of the world moves on to new life and sunshine, there are things we can do to bring those precious memories along with us.
Firstly, be kind to yourself, if you have been battling depression, anxiety, grief or your own mental health struggles, be reminded that there are blue skies ahead for you too, and it’s ok to take your time to get there. I hope that by reading this blog, you will pick up some of my suggestions and it may be helpful to you. Right now, please know that you are not alone, and it is ok to be where you are.
Memorial ideas for Spring
With new life growing all around us, you should never feel that memories have to remain in the past. When writing my flagship book; ‘If Heaven had a Postcode’ I designed it so that memories of loved ones could be remembered throughout the seasons. Grief by its very nature is challenging and brings so much sadness, but with ‘If heaven had a Postcode’ I teach you to focus on the happy times and keep those year-long memories burning. It focuses on gentle uplifting exercises that you can do personally and as a family – one of my favourites is simply planting seeds.
Within the ‘Spring section’ of the book, you’ll find Forget-me-not seeds, along with a ‘wildflower seed’ card to write to your loved one. Remember them this spring, write to them and tell them things you want to say, write down precious memories, remember happy times and plant them and watch them bloom.
If you want to involve children then why not spend an afternoon together in the garden? You could all plant some seeds and write some precious memories down on some seeded paper together.
Get out in the fresh air and be reminded that those memories will always be with you.
Alternative Spring memorial ideas
Why not plant a small memorial garden? You could plant seasonal plants and shrubs with the changing of the seasons so that something is always growing.
You could select specific plants that attract butterflies and other wildlife to make it a really nice feature in the garden. There are many sites such as Amazon and Etsy that sell small garden plaques, so you could add something personalised in memory of your loved one.
Send a letter to sea
If a Spring visit to the coast is more up your street, then you could write a water-soluble notelet and send it to sea - www.scattering-ashes.co.uk sell a box of ‘water promises’ that dissolve in water. Writing out dissolvable water notelets is a nice way to let go of negative emotions and make a fresh start. So if you’re struggling this Spring, why not make a note of those negative feelings and set them free?
I hope this blog has given you some Spring memorial ideas.
I’ll be back later this week with another blog. Until then, take care and thank you so much for your support.
